(AP) ? Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to her first child Thursday, a baby girl who will one day become queen, prompting banner headlines and 21-gun salutes across the country.

The news gave the royal family a respite from the negative headlines that have dogged King Carl XVI Gustaf, Victoria's father, after a 2010 book made scandalous claims about his private life.

The girl, who is second in line to the Swedish throne, was born at 4:26 a.m. (0326 GMT), said Victoria's husband, Prince Daniel. She was 20 inches (51 cms) long and weighed 7.23 pounds (3.28 kg).

Both the crown princess and the baby are "doing very well," an emotional Daniel told reporters who had waited for the announcement all night at the Karolinska University Hospital in the Stockholm suburb of Solna.

"My feelings are a bit all over the place," he said, switching to English mid-sentence.

"When I left the room, the little princess was sleeping on her mother's chest and they were looking very cozy," he continued in Swedish, folding his arms as if cradling a baby.

Victoria, 34, is next in line to the throne held by her father since 1973. Sweden changed the constitution in 1980, three years after Victoria was born, to allow the eldest heir to inherit the throne regardless of gender. Before that female heirs were excluded.

Victoria married Daniel, 38, a commoner and her former personal trainer, in June 2010.

Swedish media proclaimed the royal birth with bold headlines and live broadcasts Thursday from the hospital, where dozens of reporters gathered after the Royal Court confirmed after midnight that Victoria had checked into the hospital.

The court announced the birth on its website and on its Facebook page, where it also published the first picture of the couple carrying the newborn in a baby carrier. It said the family returned to Haga Castle later Thursday and the king plans to announce the girl's name at a ceremony Friday.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt congratulated the couple, noting that Sweden stands before "a new era of queens." Sweden's last female monarch was Queen Ulrika Eleonora, who ruled for just one year until 1720.

As is custom when an heir to the throne is born, the Swedish Armed Forces celebrated the news with two 21-gun salutes at noon in Stockholm and other cities.

Like in neighboring Scandinavian countries, Sweden's monarch is primarily a figurehead, representing the country as the head of state but with powers limited to ceremonial functions. One of the Swedish monarch's most prominent duties is to hand out the prestigious Nobel Prizes at an annual awards ceremony in December.

Victoria is widely admired by Swedes for being down-to-earth and unassuming. She and Prince Daniel have often ventured out of their lakeside palace for a stroll in a nearby park, abeit with security guards in tow.

Dr. Lennart Nordstrom, who was present during the delivery, said the royal couple had requested that they not receive any special treatment.

"Both the crown princess and Daniel have been adamant that they should receive the same care as everyone else," Nordstrom told The Associated Press, adding there were no complications during the delivery.

The popularity of the royal family in general and Victoria in particular helps explain why the centuries-old monarchy has survived even though the concept of inherited privilege runs counter to the egalitarian character of modern Swedish society.

Voices calling for a republic have been emboldened, however, following an unauthorized biography of the king in 2010 that claimed he had seedy nightclub visits and an extramarital affair.

A close friend of the king caused him further embarrassment when he was caught on tape negotiating with mobsters in an apparent attempt to keep unflattering information about the king's entourage from the public.

The Swedish Republican Association, which calls for the monarchy to be abolished, sent its congratulations to Victoria and Daniel while still urging Parliament to change the constitution "for the good of the child and of Sweden."

The Swedish monarchy rests on traditions stretching back to the end of the Viking age more than 1,000 years ago. The current dynasty, however, was founded in 1810, when French marshal Jean Baptiste Bernadotte was elected as successor to the throne.

(AP) ? Rachel Crow was a tearful runner-up on "The X Factor," but she's a winner now.

The 14-year-old singer has signed a series deal with the Nickelodeon channel and a recording contract with Sony's Columbia Records-Syco.

Nickelodeon said Wednesday its agreement with Crow includes development of a comedy series for the teenager. She'll also have a recurring role in Nickelodeon's new program, "Fred: The Show."

Crow's recording deal puts her in business with "X Factor" creator Simon Cowell's Syco enterprise.

The big-voiced teenager made a dramatic exit from "X Factor" last December: Crow collapsed onstage after she was voted off by viewers.

500px Rolls Out New Browsing And Sharing Features ? Plus A Market

flowUpstart photo-sharing service 500px is bringing some significant changes to the site that should be going live right now (although they're being hammered, so be patient). The site was already one of the frontrunners as far as design and user uptake, and these new features should help that right along. There's a new curated and social photo stream called "Flow" and a new layout for photo sets that can, like the excellent The Big Picture (or In Focus, of course), be used to tell a story. And perhaps most significantly, they've added a full-on market, allowing people to buy and sell photos digitally or in print.

Grand Prize Winner Susan Mastrangelo of Marietta, Ga. Wins $50,000 in Energy-Saving Home Improvements

?

Chester, Pa., February 20, 2012 ? Power Home Remodeling Group, the nation?s fourth largest home remodeling company, announces Susan Mastrangelo of Marietta, Ga. as the Grand Prize winner of the company?s annual $50,000 Home Improvement Sweepstakes. Power has awarded a total of five Grand Prize winners and numerous First Prize winners since the popular sweepstakes? inception in 2007.

?

Mastrangelo was selected from thousands of entrants from up and down the East Coast to receive the Grand Prize ? $50,000 toward home remodeling products and installation. Mastrangelo?s prize provides her 15 energy efficient windows, a new roof, new siding and two entry doors. The updates will help to increase the home?s energy efficiency through Georgia?s hot summer and cool winter months.

?

?My initial reaction to winning the $50,000 grand prize was one of disbelief,? said Mastrangelo about winning the sweepstakes. ?This was the first contest I?ve ever entered and these things just don?t happen to me! The reality is finally setting in, and I?m looking forward to an incredible experience with Power Home Remodeling Group.?

?

Two First Prize winners also benefitted from the Home Improvement Sweepstakes in 2011 as winners of $5,000 in home improvement projects last year. Power Home Remodeling Group provides all products and service for the Home Improvement Sweepstakes installations.

?

Jeff Kaliner, Power?s Founding Partner, commented, ?Notifying the winner is one of my favorite parts of this sweepstakes. Hearing the excitement in Susan?s voice gave me such joy. Her home is in need of work and she didn?t have the funds to have it renovated, so I?m glad we were able to come to the rescue. It?s important for us to give back to the community through this sweepstakes program and I?m thrilled to help ease the financial stress of home remodeling for our winners.?

?

The next Power Home Improvement Sweepstakes Grand Prize winner will be chosen on January 2, 2013, and the next First Prize winner of $5,000 will be chosen on April 1, 2012. The contest is open to home-owning residents of Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C. who are 18 years or older.

Justin Theroux: Break Dancing on Ellen!

Justin Theroux knows how to get DOWN!

Stopping by the Ellen DeGeneres show to promote Wanderlust, in which he co-stars with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston (they met on set) and Paul Rudd, Justin showed off some sick break dance moves. Turns out we can thank Jen for this, too.

Watch him let loose to Rob Base DJ E Z Rock's "It Takes Two":

"My girlfriend, I don’t know if any of you guys know her, ever since she saw Zoolander she’s been obsessed with making me break dance," Justin told Ellen.

While she tried to get him to bust a move at her birthday party, Theroux says he got out of it by telling her he couldn't do it without his "breaking shoes."

He continues, "So we got home that night. It was late and she literally came out with a pair of shoes. My actual 'breaking shoes.'" The best part of it?

Jennifer Aniston was nice enough to send the shoes to Ellen too, and after a moment of resignation, he was not shy about showing off his moves. Respect!

Blog Archive ? Stop listening to home based business lies!

22
Feb

I?m sure you experience this at least once a day. You go to check your email or even just to check a website you have grown fond of and there it is staring at you like a lion about to eat you alive. A new product has come out and it promises to make you all the money you ever dreamed.

Naturally you click the link and once again you find yourself drowning in a sales letter as long as a newspaper and a long video that keeps dragging you along, because you honestly think for once they will actually show you how to start a profitable home based business without you spending your hard earned cash.

Once again you have just wasted many precious minutes of your life on this page wishing you could have it all back. It?s commonly called shiny object syndrom within the hom based business?s and it can litterally prevent you from making any money for years if you don?t kick it and start actually doing what you know works.

Maybe you had set up a home based business about a month ago and you had generated just one dollar. You felt good that day. as little as one dollar was you had made progress. You quit though. You felt like you had done something wrong. You deserved hundreds, thousands and you weren?t getting it.

Go back to it. Expand it. Use some of the money you make daily to start getting some content made for you or just stop being lazy about it and create it yourself. Write down all the things you are good at and start thinking about how you can use them to provide a service with your own home based business.

It honestly isn?t that hard. Make a goal. Start small, say you will make $100 by the end of the month. Once you have acheived that scale it up. Stop chasing all the home based business lies that are out there. Instead focus on what you can provide to people to get them to keep coming back to you for more.

If you really want a successful home based business then you need to think long term. Understand that this takes time. Don?t let anyone tell you that you can create a home based business overnight. It simply isn?t done. You have a better chance of winning the lottery and we all know how hard that is.

Once you set small goals and change your mindset from what can I do to make money, but instead what can I do to help others with their problems you will be way ahead of the curve and on your way to making as much money as you want. However you have to start somewhere rome wasn?t build in a day and neither is a successful home based business.

Honestly that point I just made there is one of the most important things that you will ever read and there is a website with even more important things to say. So go check it out any of the links below for the most up to date information on creating a successful home based business.

Revenge is a dish best not served on 'Loser'

Chism, Jeremy, Cassandra, Emily, Megan, Christine and Daphne faced a table packed with their biggest temptations.

By Ree Hines

The last few weeks have been drama-packed on "The Biggest Loser," and if anyone thought that trend would be over now that Conda and co. booted both Adrian and Roy out of the game, they were mistaken.

Instead, things got off to desperate start Tuesday night as the players gathered for a temptation challenge ? a particularly tempting one. Faced with plate after plate of all of their favorite foods, the contestants had the option to eat their way to power. The one to consume the most calories could switch the game around, deciding which members made up each team and who would train them. And they could do so anonymously.

The first to eat was Mark, who downed a couple of plates of venison worth 312 calories. (Yes, someone's favorite food was venison. It seems Kimmy loves to eat deer. Good thing, too, as she confessed in a frightening aside that she's mowed down 12 of them in her car! Bambi, beware.)

Chris, Kim and Cassandra also chowed down, enjoying pizza and peanut butter cups to varying degrees, but really their calorie totals didn't matter. And neither did Mark's. That's because Daphne, the one person in the game who could really benefit from a shakeup, ate nine plates of peanut butter cups -- that's 1890 calories' worth. Needless to say, she won.

But she didn't share that news with the rest of the game. Instead, Alison Sweeney announced that someone won, and then announced the changes, which were, to say the least, ineffective and underwhelming.

Rather than put power players together on one team, such as Conda, Jeremy, Chism and Mark, where they would eventually have to break down their alliance and pick each other off, Daphne only chose to swap Conda and Jeremy's places on the red and black teams. In other words, while Daphne annoyed them, the balance of power stayed the same. And while she technically remained anonymous, everyone knew she was responsible for the switcheroo. ?

Chris Haston / NBC

So tensions remained as high as they ever had, and the target on Daphne's back only grew. Eventually, after trainer Bob Harper pushed her to do it, Daphne admitted that she was the mastermind behind the bad move. But that, too, didn't make a difference. Daphne was the odd player out without her brother, and the fix was in.

"I think they're trying to purposely sabotage this weigh-in," she noticed. "They have been eating bread all week long. Every time I turn around, I'm seeing somebody put bread in their mouth."

Which meant the only chance she had to stay in the game was to earn immunity by dropping the most pounds ? a particularly daunting task after dropping 12 pounds last week and binging on peanut butter cups this week. Ultimately, it was a task she wasn't up for.

After the red team sailed through an easy weigh-in, Team Black, with the exception of Chris, put up one bad number after another. Heck, Conda even gained a pound, and Daphne gained two. But if fussing and fighting shed pounds, they would have all had a banner week, because the scale-side showdown was over-the-top with smack talk and finger pointing.

In the elimination room, doomed Daphne admitted that her decision to swap Conda and Jeremy wasn't gameplay. It was personal and in-part, an effort to get revenge for the way her brother Adrian was treated in weeks past.

Rather than just let that parting statement go, Conda chimed in.

"I would just like to say that I don't hold on to grudges," she said in a statement sure to make viewers roll their eyes as much as Conda usually rolls her own. "I don't seek revenge on people. I'm a role model and example to my daughter."

Ooh, boy. After a bit more bickering, Daphne said goodbye to the ranch and hello to a chance to leave the drama behind and lose weight back home with her family.

What did you think of the drama-packed episode? Was the black team wrong to throw the weigh-in, or did they just speed up the inevitable by getting rid of Daphne now? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
